7 Signs Your Business Website Needs a Redesign in 2026

Your website is often the first impression a customer gets — and an outdated one quietly sends them to a competitor. If any of these seven signs sound familiar, it’s time to consider a redesign.

1. It’s slow to load

If your site takes more than three seconds to load, you’re losing visitors before they see a thing. Speed is a confirmed Google ranking factor and the single biggest driver of bounce rate. Modern sites should hit a mobile Lighthouse score of 90+.

2. It looks broken on phones

Over half of web traffic is mobile. If your site needs pinch-zooming, has tiny buttons, or scrolls sideways on a phone, you’re frustrating most of your audience. Mobile-first design isn’t optional in 2026.

3. It’s not bringing in leads

A website should do a job — generate calls, form fills, or sales. If yours is a digital brochure nobody acts on, the problem is usually unclear calls-to-action, weak messaging, or no obvious next step.

4. It feels dated

Design trends move fast. A site that looked sharp in 2019 can read as “this business is behind the times” today. Fair or not, visitors judge your credibility by your design in milliseconds.

5. You can’t update it yourself

If changing a phone number means emailing a developer and waiting a week, your platform is working against you. A modern build (or care plan) puts simple edits back in your hands.

6. It’s not secure

No HTTPS padlock? Running outdated software? Browsers now flag insecure sites as “Not secure,” and Google ranks them lower. Security issues are both a trust killer and a ranking killer.

7. It doesn’t rank on Google

If you’re invisible in search, you’re missing free, high-intent traffic every day. A redesign is the perfect moment to fix technical SEO, site structure, and content — and start showing up.

What a redesign actually fixes

A proper redesign isn’t just a fresh coat of paint. Done right, it improves speed, mobile experience, SEO, security, and — most importantly — conversions. The goal is a site that earns its keep.
